Day Game Drive in the Kruger National Park

Time is a luxury not everyone can enjoy. However, Kruger National Park game drives will more than satisfy the expectations of even the most avid safari-goer.
Our many years of experience in the South Africa safari industry has taught us that not all of our visitors from overseas have the luxury of time to spend in our world-renowned game reserve. That is why we designed a Day Game Drive package. It is a mini-South Africa safari packed into 10 hours. And it is an adventure we have streamlined to be remembered for a lifetime.

For a true wildlife adrenaline rush, you have to experience a day game drive on an exclusive private Kruger National Park Safari.
Not everyone has the time to spend several days on safari. That is why our day game drive package is so popular. We cram into 11 hours what many tourists often do not experience in as many days.

The rainy season is a harder time for predators and wildlife can hide away in the lush bush. A South Africa Safari at this time is very different to a dry season photographic safari. Let the adventure begin

Our one-day Kruger National Park game drives begin at the crack of dawn when your guide for the day will collect you from your hotel. This 5am start (October to March) and 5.30am (April to September) will ensure that you take full advantage of game viewing in the early hours of the morning. It is during these cool morning hours that most of the animals will be visible to visitors of the Kruger National Park. Our guides will also take advantage of the game visiting watering holes and, with a little luck, these will include members of the Big Five. It is a well-known fact that the early morning hours will find predators roaming the escarpment. These include the Big Five’s lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and Cape buffalo.
We also offer photographic safaris on our South Africa tours, but you can nevertheless still obtain fabulous photographs of the wildlife on a Day Game Drive.

After your early-morning outing, your safari will continue with your guide taking you to other animal viewing hotspots. As mentioned previously, these sites change daily. That is because the condition of grassland dictates the best grazing for herbivores, while meat-eaters, such as lion and leopard, travel the savannas and bushveld in search of their daily meal. Your guide keeps alert to these changing patterns so that you can have the best possible chance of viewing elusive wildlife.

Safari Gamedrive

You will be accompanied by a professional, highly trained and well- experienced guide. He will take you off the beaten track to game viewing spots seldom discovered by the many thousands of keen wildlife enthusiasts who frequent the park. It is at these carefully chosen sites that you are most likely to view, at close range, members of the Big Five. It is a breath-taking and unforgettable experience to witness in real-time the lives of Africa’s rhino, lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. It is even more awe-inspiring should you be fortunate enough to witness a kill.

Every day is different and only your professional guide is trained to take you to the best possible game-viewing vantage points. That is why we cannot advertise a set route for our day game drives. And that is also the reason for your pre-dawn wake-up call. To quote the adage: “the early bird catches the worm”, arriving at a view site as the sun rises is almost certain to be rewarded. Remember to wear a warm jacket. Sunrise is a cold time of day in the Kruger Park, particularly if you are visiting during the Southern Hemisphere’s winter months. We do provide mugs of bush tea and coffee to help fight off the winter chill.

Your day game drive begins pre-dawn when you will be collected at one of our pick-up and drop-off sites. These sites include:
• Perry's Bridge Tourism Centre in Hazyview which offers safe parking
• Hotels, safari lodges and guest houses in Hazyview and areas within a 15km radius
• Wildlife estates and safari lodges situated on the R536 highway
• Hazyview / Kruger Gate Road
• Mananga Bush Retreat and Sabie Park
• Protea Hotel Kruger Gate by Marriott
• Skukuza and Pretoruiskop camps inside the game reserve

Please Note: We ask a R450 surcharge to collect clients at Berg en Dal, Malelane Gate, Crocodile Bridge Gate, White River and Nelspruit area.

What are the advantages of a Day Game Drive?

The advantage of our Day Game Drive is that you will have the services of an experienced and highly professional safari guide and driver. You will become privy to his many years of experience in the bush. Your guide will share his knowledge about:
• The behaviour of animal wildlife
• The topography and vegetation that makes up this section of one of the world’s leading game reserves
• As well as the interesting history about the Kruger National Park

This information is something you will never learn should you decide to venture into the park on your own. No number of guide books can impart the personal experience of a game ranger.

Your day excursion includes breakfast and lunch. It is geared for two to nine people. The bigger the tour group, the cheaper the rate that we charge.

Our pick-up times apply to Hazyview and environs.
